What is better, inside mount or outside mount blinds?

Whether you are moving into a new home and in need of window treatments, or you are just tired of the window treatments you currently have in your home, Next Day Blinds is here for you. From design consultation to installation, getting the perfect window coverings is easy with Next Day Blinds.
During this process, we get a lot of questions about the manufacturing and installation of our blinds and shades. One of the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) we hear is “What is better, inside mount or outside mount blinds? Which is best for my windows?” Well, in order to answer that question, we must first look at each type of mount more in-depth.
When it comes to installing your new window treatments, the decision between inside and outside mount is a very important one. Choosing between an inside and outside mount will not only affect the look of your window treatment, but also its functionality and light control.
Inside Mount Blinds
Most window treatments you see are probably installed as inside mounts. This type of mount allows you to install your window treatment flush or recessed with the window frame, providing a visually appealing look that most homeowners prefer. For this reason, an inside mount is perfect for areas where visual appeal is more important than light control, such as the living room, dining room, and kitchen.
Outside Mount Blinds
Outside mounts are exactly what they sound like. Unlike inside mounts, which are installed inside the window frame, outside mounts are installed outside, usually on the window trim. This does not give your window treatments that recessed or flush look, but does provide superior light control. For this reason, outside mounts are recommended for blackout shades to give you that “cave” effect. Otherwise, there will be light gaps on the left and right sides of the shades. We also recommend for Roller Shades as they have the greatest deduction or cut back of fabric when ordered as inside mount.
Outside mounts are perfect for bedrooms, nurseries, and media rooms.
